Tanuki Good Fortune – Mount Kurama, Kyoto – Tee

₹2,682.08

A pair of jolly Shigaraki tanuki, with their straw hats, sake flasks and account books, under the maples.

In Japan the tanuki is a beloved symbol of good fortune and prosperity, and statues like these welcome visitors at shops and inns across the country. Each part of the figure carries a meaning: the hat for protection from bad weather, the flask for virtue, the account book for trust.

Based on my own photographs of the tanuki statues near the foot of Mount Kurama, from more than 80 visits to the mountain, where I lead group and private tours. Printed on demand and shipped to you.
